Customer Reviews of Wet-Stop3 Bedwetting Alarm System (Green)

Customer Review: Works Like a Charm!
Summary: 5 Stars

My daughter is 7 and has consistently wet her pants while she sleeps every single night, never waking to use the bathroom. She was also having episodes during the day while at home (never at school) of wetting. I brought her to doctors and specialists for advice, they would examine her, perform ultrasounds and tell me she was fine and would grow out of it. Finally her pediatrician recommended I try one of these devices when on her 7 year check up in August I brought up the fact that she was still wetting herself. I was hesitant and hopeful that the device would work...hesitant because we have 3 known bedwetters in the family (as children) and I thought she might be doomed to genetics. When we first started using the device she hated it! It is very loud and between that and the vibration it would scare her awake. We would clip it to a pair of undies and then put a Underjams over the undies. At first the unit would go off 2-3 times a night and we would have to change the wet undies and sometimes the Underjam. Gradually the unit would go off only once and then she started waking before the unit would go off to use the bathroom. Now, 2 months after starting this process, I'm pleased to say that she isn't wearing the Underjams and her undies are dry in the morning! She is so excited! She also has stopped wetting during the day. I'm amazed at how quickly this has worked for her, it really is true that the alarm has helped to trigger and retrain her brain into realizing she has to use the bathroom before she wets herself. I would definitly recommend this product, it is hard at first but the results are well worth it. My daughter , like I mentioned, hates this alarm and hates the sound of it (so do I). And we did hit some roadblocks in the 2 month timeframe such as a bad cough and cold so we took a week off of using the alarm so she could get over that. But if you stick to it you will see results. Now I have to shop for a Barbie dreamhome for her...I admit to using a little bribery as well! :)

Customer Review: Very Pleased
Summary: 5 Stars

We have been using this product for about one month. We followed most of the suggestions of the other reviewers. We are very pleased with the durability of the product and the results we have gotten.

I was concerned my son, at age 4 1/2 would be too young, as most physicians reccommend waiting until the age of 8. However we have been battling a persistent groin rash and decided we really needed to keep him dry at night. .

The first five nights I slept in my son's bedroom. Each night he made progress with decreasing the amount of urine that was released before being able to stop the stream. The fifth night he was dry all night, wakening by himself to use the bathroom. His body is still learning, and every once and awhile his alarm goes off to a small wet spot on his underwear. We are confident that within another 1-2 months we will be able to take the alarm away completely. My son, at only 4 1/2 years old, can completely manage the alarm himself after about the first week.

TIPS: Let him hear the alarm and touch/play with it before using. Sleep in the child's bedroom until progressed to not wetting through to the sheets. Have a pile of clean sheets, blankets, underwear, pajamas, etc ready when you start. Thread the wire over a t shirt and under the pj shirt. My son likes to flip over the alarm at his collar, so the alarm is between his t shirt and pj shirt. When the alarm goes off tell him to stop peeing. Let the alarm go off until you are in the bathroom, and start teaching your child from the first night how to work the alarm. Use the sticker chart. My son went through a period where he didn't want to wear the alarm. We told him when he has been dry for two weeks he will get to pick out a toy from the store. We show him on a calender when it will be two weeks. This was enough to keep him wearing the alarm. If you are not close to his room use a baby monitor when you are no longer sleeping in his room. It is worth the money, and good luck!

Customer Review: As good as the $100 ones!
Summary: 5 Stars

We've been using this alarm for 3 weeks now on our 6 yr old son who was fully saturated every am until now. We and our Ped. are pretty sure his bedwetting was a result of heavy sleeping.

We brought him into our room and the 1st week the alarm woke us up, not him. So we then woke him up with each alarm. By the third week he is now almost always waking himself with the alarm (something I had little faith in happening because he is an extremely heavy sleeper).

Now into week 4, I'd say he has 95% dry nights but is still dependent on the alarm.

The positives: He is SO, SO PROUD to not have to wear diapers anymore. The alarm will have paid for itself in 2 months of not having to buy diapers and decreased laundry expenses. Mom is estatic over not washing bedding and PJ's nearly everyday. The instructions were easy to follow. Set up was quick. We didn't need to read books or use the reward sticker chart included. The alarm is very accurate and sensitive to moisture. It has a loud alarm volume and strong vibration (settings allow you to choose either/or or both).

The negatives: It'll probably take an investment of one parent's time and interrupted sleep sacrifice to wake up the child when alarms go off until the child can wake himself up independently...that time seems to vary from several days to several weeks, depending on each child. There are no alarm volume or vibration intensity adjustment settings. Turning off the alarm is a 2 step process....but honestly this is probably good because you wouldn't want the child to just tap a button and fall back to sleep only to continue wetting.

Overall, this alarm is excellent! We came extremely close to purchasing a different one for over $100 as I was convinced we needed to spend that much for quality. I was wrong. This $40 alarm seems as effective as the more expensive ones. We'd recommend it to anyone dealing with bedwetting problems.

Customer Review: Worked like a charm!!
Summary: 5 Stars

Our son just turned six years old, and he's never been able to go the whole night with a dry bed. For the last few months, we've tried waking him up at around midnight to pee, which did keep him dry, but seemed counterproductive, since he wasn't getting habitualized to do it himself. He certainly is physiologically capable, but just didn't seem to be able to get the hang of going all night. To be honest, it runs in the family, and I remembered when I was his age, my parents used these crazy rubber sheets that had a loud, buzzing alarm (along with gold stars) as motivation to just get up and use the toilet when I had to pee. Those seemed to do the trick, so I was happy to see a more modern solution to this challenge in the WetStop3. I checked in with our son's pediatrician before we bought it, and she had nothing but good things to say about it, so we decided to give it a try.

So, here's the review: IT WORKS. It was not too difficult for our son to wear (although to be honest, a wireless version would be WAY more comfortable), and for the first few nights, the novelty was more a plus than a minus. Those first few nights, the buzzer woke him up in time for him to do all but a tiny drop of pee in the toilet, and he seemed really motivated by the early success. Then there were a few nights that went back and forth - one night completely dry, one night the alarm didn't go off in time and he had a wet bed, etc, but after two weeks total, our son was sleeping through the night without any wetness at all! It's been a month now, and he's completely, totally dry every night WITHOUT the Wetstop!

So, we're happy to add our five star review to the list. If you're struggling with this challenge as we were, you might as well give it a try - what've you got to lose?

Good luck - we hope it's as successful for you as it was for us. :-)

Customer Review: not the miracle cure to bedwetting
Summary: 3 Stars

ok, so i was very hopeful to not have to change bedding at least every other night, let alone losing the pull-ups for my 9 yr old son. unfortunately this product isn't all it's cracked up to be. not to give it too harsh a review, for all i know all these products work just as mediocre. i did try to get the cheapest possible item while still looking like it might work(perhaps another $20 or $30 would do the trick?).
first, i would like to mention the sensor which is indeed very sensitive. i barely touch it with a wet finger and the alarm goes off. BUT the design of the clip is lacking. it is strong and stays put which is good. you are supposed to place it where moisture will first hit. the problem is you pull a little bit of underwear away from the body and pinch it in the clasp. how is this small section of material going to GET wet if it is in the clip? the only time it goes off is when the underwear are soaked and it spreads out to the part in the clip. hence, still washing a lot of bedding. we thought we were smart when we doubled up the underwear with a pull-up but it still soaked through. the upside is, when the alarm does go off, he gets himself up to change instead of laying in it all night.
secondly, the thin phone cord that connects the sensor to the alarm is entirely too long for a child's torso length. we have it bound up which sometimes annoys him.
thirdly, the alarm box is actually designed well. it has a strong circular magnet on a short tether you place at the collar. it doesn't damage the shirt in any way. the alarm itself is fairly loud and alternates patterns every time it goes off. it also vibrates. i do wish it was more 'alarming' since my son is a very heavy sleeper (kinda the source of the bed wetting). also the box is a little larger and heavier than desired. not too bad, though. sigh, the search goes on...
