Customer Reviews of Wet-Stop3 Bedwetting Alarm System (Green)Customer Review: Not as good as previous WetStop2 model Summary: 1 Stars
Within the last couple years our son had all but conquered bed-wetting, but has since relapsed. We previously had a Malem, which we lost in a move before we could even start using it, so we purchased a WetStop2. We liked the WetStop2 because it allowed us to choose from several types of alarm sounds and several volume levels. These levels could be adjusted on the outside of the device. Overall, it worked decent for us. Unfortunately, the WetStop2 broke. However, we felt he was far enough along to go without it, since we felt he was pretty much "cured".
When he had his relapse we decided to order a new one and went with the WetStop3, since we liked the brand before.
Here are the problems we found:
1. The tab on the connector for the sensor wire broke.
2. The alarm/buzzer is not loud enough to wake our son ... no volume control!
3. The alarm/buzzer can only be adjusted by taking off the back cover and taking out the batteries, then flipping a switch inside the case.
4. The alarm intermittently goes off, even when dry.
5. The alarm doesn't consistently go off when wet.
We're extremely disappointed with the WetStop3 and wish we could still use our WetStop2. We would probably recommend either the Malem or a WetStop2 (if you can locate a use one in good condition).
Hope this review helps someone!
Customer Review: WOW!!!! This is great! Summary: 5 Stars
I am so excited about this product and will tell anyone who has a bed wetting child to buy this now! First of all, the recommended age for this product is 6 years old. My son was almost 4 1/2 when we started using it. He has been wetting the bed once or twice a night every night. Half the time, the pull-up would leak and I would need to change sheets. He didn't like waking up wet, and he didn't like having to wear a pull up when other friends his age wore underwear to bed. So, I bought this product with not too high of hopes that it might work. I figured that with his young age, it might take a while for it to work, or take extra parent involvement. The first 2 weeks were the hardest, but he was really trying. He learned quickly to stop the flow of urine and go to the bathroom when the alarm sounded. The alarm was loud enough for me to hear down the hall as long as we left our door open. Within a month, he began waking up on his own before the alarm and go potty. Now, after almost 2 months of using the alarm, he no longer wears a pull up or an alarm to bed. He hasn't had one accident in at least 3 weeks. He is so proud of his accomplishment... and I'm sure I've paid for the alarm by what I've saved in pull ups and laundry. Buy this product! It was such a confidence booster for my child... it would have been worth 5 times the amount of money!
Customer Review: It really does work! Summary: 5 Stars
My five year old daughter sleeps like the dead so after three years of wearing Pull Ups, we decided to buy this alarm. For the first two weeks she would start to wet the bed, the alarm would go off, and she would stop mid-stream. I'd run in there and help her up to go to the bathroom and finish going in the toilet. It was working beautifully! There were nights when she flooded the bed before the alarm finally woke her up, but eventually the alarm would rouse her. (Thank goodness for the waterproof mattress pads but that's another review!)
Then one night the part that clips to her shirt came off and ended up underneath her bottom. Apparently it is not water resistant. My daughter peed all over it and when the alarm went off I couldn't get it to shut off. Apparently she shorted it out! We had to take the batteries out to turn the alarm off. I cleaned it all out and let it dry out for 24 hours before trying it again but now it doesn't work at all.
HOWEVER, we do have good news.... it seems that it broke the cycle of sleeping all night without stirring when she had to go to the bathroom. For the past two weeks she's only had an accident twice and those were on nights when she had something to drink after 7:00 pm. So I give total credit to this little device!
I only wish it were waterproof too.
Customer Review: Wet-Stop3 was amazing Summary: 5 Stars
My 5 yr old girl is a deep sleeper. She had been potty trained except for night time. We tried just getting rid of diapers, dehydration before bed, taking her potty before we went to bed...all sorts of things. Nothing worked. The doctor wanted to wait for 1 more year and then put her on medicine if necessary. We bought the Wet-Stop3 and within 1 week, she learned to wake up on her own. She has now been dry for 10+ nights in a row. It was not a gradual learning process like one might think. For the first 4 nights, she would sleep until the alarm went off and her bladder was empty. Mom or I would turn off the alarm, put her on the potty (where she did nothing), and change towels and underwear for dry sleep. On the 5th night, she woke during the alarm and actually stopped her pee. We put her on the potty and she finished. From then on, she woke before the alarm would go off...totally amazing.
Having read other reviews, I want to say that yes, it is loud, and yes, if the child is overdressed for bed, it will go off if there is sweat. Having said that, it did not wake up our 2 yr old (another deep sleeper), and I adjusted how many blankets my older one wore.
On top of that, the gold stars is something that my older daughter is currently enjoying...it helps motivate her to stay dry.
Customer Review: Very surprised, and it didn't cost me a fortune! Summary: 5 Stars
I bought this for my son whom is a few months away from turing 7. I read all of the reviews, and got a little worried about my "sound sleeper" not waking up. I told him about the alarm, he gave me a great big hug for helping him to stop wetting.
I tried it the first night I got it. I kept waking up to see if the alarm went off. Nope. Woke up a few hours later.. nothing, so I had to check on him. He's dry. Ok, the first night he didn't get enough sleep and stayed dry.
The second night, the alarm woke us up. He finished, and came to see me to turn it off, sheets were soaked. Each night after that, he wet himself less. He started having dry nights after 2 weeks. I honestly thought it was going to take longer than that. He's been dry since, and now I have his almost 4 yr. old on it. She's been on it for a week now, and I bet she will have dry nights probably in another week or week and a half.
UGH! I'll be SO happy to get rid of the "pull-ups" pail she and her brother used once and for all.
The only complaint I have is the sensor wire loosens up after a few weeks, and doesn't clamp on the underwear very well... though later found out that you can buy a replacement for $12.
During my daughter's use, I am using strong tape to keep it on her. (clear duct tape)
