Customer Reviews of Wet-Stop3 Bedwetting Alarm System With VibrationCustomer Review: WOW!!!! This is great! Summary: 5 StarsI am so excited about this product and will tell anyone who has a bed wetting child to buy this now! First of all, the recommended age for this product is 6 years old. My son was almost 4 1/2 when we started using it. He has been wetting the bed once or twice a night every night. Half the time, the pull-up would leak and I would need to change sheets. He didn't like waking up wet, and he didn't like having to wear a pull up when other friends his age wore underwear to bed. So, I bought this product with not too high of hopes that it might work. I figured that with his young age, it might take a while for it to work, or take extra parent involvement. The first 2 weeks were the hardest, but he was really trying. He learned quickly to stop the flow of urine and go to the bathroom when the alarm sounded. The alarm was loud enough for me to hear down the hall as long as we left our door open. Within a month, he began waking up on his own before the alarm and go potty. Now, after almost 2 months of using the alarm, he no longer wears a pull up or an alarm to bed. He hasn't had one accident in at least 3 weeks. He is so proud of his accomplishment... and I'm sure I've paid for the alarm by what I've saved in pull ups and laundry. Buy this product! It was such a confidence booster for my child... it would have been worth 5 times the amount of money!
Customer Review: Best purchase ever! Summary: 5 StarsMy 5.5 yr old had never kept dry a single night of his life. I had been hesitant to try this product, until he started leaking out of his overnights and I was facing a mountain of laundry. For the first few nights he woke up several times a night with the alarm. I slept in his room for the first 2 weeks so I could assist him. We minimized clean-up by putting a pull-up over his underwear. Now after 3 weeks, he is keeping dry pants all night long. He is so proud of himself and we are too! I wish I had purchased it sooner.
Customer Review: Happy Boy (and parents) with DRY PANTS!!!! Summary: 5 StarsFirst of all, I (mom) am a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner, so I have some experience giving advice on bed-wetting. Most references that I have show that night time bedwetting is considered "normal" until 6 to 7 years of age and that boys are typically more difficult to train than girls. That being said, I now have my own 4 1/2 year old boy that is extremely distraught in the mornings when his Pull-Up is wet. First, I borrowed one of the Malem alarms that we have to loan at work (the cheaper $89.00 one that does not vibrate) and found that if I allowed my child to sleep with this one, he woke up screaming and terrified due to the high-pitched audible alarm. Needless to say, our entire family of four was then awake until everyone could calm back down. In addition, the safety pin that is on the Mardel alarm tore a hole in the two sets of pajamas that we used with it.
Now for the good news. For less than half the cost of the comparable Malem alarm, The Wet-Stop 3 is AMAZING. Over a one month period, my son of 4 1/2 years has gone from wetting his pants 2-3 times per night, to wearing regular underwear and being dry all night long. In addition, there is a magnet attached to the vibration/audible alarm (there are 3 settings, either vibration or audible only, or vibration and audible together) that folds over the neckline of the pajamas, so no pins and no holes in the clothes. This is how we used the alarm:
First: we talked about how it worked and let him feel what the vibration felt like on his collar bone by dipping the computer chip in a cup of water. Once he was convinced that the alarm would not be deafening in the night, he was excited about wearing it.
Week 1: The first 4 nights, we allowed our son to sleep in a sleeping bag on the floor in our room. The first 2 night of this he woke up soaking wet, with the alarm going off, woke me up, and I helped him changed his Pull-Up and reattached the alarm. The second 2 nights, he woke up slightly less wet and finished urinating in the toilet, then we changed his Pull-Up. An important point, it was difficult enough for me to disconnect the clamp from his Pull-Up and hold the alarm reset button in, much less having a young child do this alone. The last 3 days of the first week, our son slept in his room, but came to wake me when he was wet (albeit, just barely) to reset the alarm and finish urinating in the toilet.
Week 2: 3 of 7 nights, the Pull-Up was DRY, the others we finished in the toilet and resent the alarm and went to bed.
Week 3: DRY for 7 nights in a row, still wearing the Wet-Stop 3 and a Pull-Up
Week 4: So far, we are 2 days into week 4 and our son is wearing regular underpants with the Wet-Stop 3 attached. So far, haven't had to change any sheets!!!!! He wakes up with a smile from ear to ear and that is worth all the money in the world.
As with anything new, consistency is the key. Don't get discouraged after one or two days of wet pants. Keep at it and encourage your child with every step. Congratulate him/her for waking up to the alarm, for coming to get help, etc. Remember, this is behavior modification, not punishment, and not magic.
I hope this review is helpful, and that your family has as much success as we have experienced. Good Luck!
Customer Review: not sure for sound sleepers Summary: 2 StarsMy daughter is almost 4 1/2 and she still has an accident (about once a night). We've been using the alarm for about a month and no change. It's a loud alarm, that I can hear from the other room but she still doesn't wake up with it on.
Customer Review: why didn't I buy this sooner? Summary: 5 StarsI never thought this would work for my heavy sleeper but when my son turned 7 and was still having multiple accidents (sometimes 3 a night)I broke down and bought one. The alarm woke all of us the first night and I think scared my son into never having an accident again! (Don't worry though. There is no long term psychological damage. My son still sleeps heavily but with no accidents.) He was still half asleep and didn't know what was going on. We disconnected the alarm very easily and then reattached it to his clean underwear without much difficulty. Definitely use an extra mattress pad or towel underneath your child for easy changing. The second night it went off, my son disconnected it himself and I washed him up and changed his pad. The third night I didn't wake up at all. He had done everything himself. After 3 nights of the alarm going off, he was cured. He hasn't had an accident since and he is now 8 1/2 years old. Why didn't I buy this sooner? Totally worth the money.
