Customer Reviews of Yogourmet Extra Batch Jar

Customer Review: White is not best color for yogurt incubation.
Summary: 3 Stars

I purchased one and found it difficult to both open and close completely (360-degrees) without experiencing a good deal of slosh owing to the force required to snap and unsnap the lid.

Also, I realized after my purchase, incubating yogurt cultures results in some of them becoming very well attached to the side of the incubation container. One needs to examine well a wash container under good light for signs of minute, clinging clusters. It is difficult to see minute, white cultures on the inside wall of a white container. I now use clear glass, screw top bottles for culturing yogurt. The clinging spots of white are much easier to spot on the clear glass.

Customer Review: Good to Have an Extra One or Two!!!
Summary: 5 Stars

This is the extra jar you need for the absolute best yogurt maker! I've cultured milk products for over 3 decades and I've found that Yogourmet makes excellent products far superior to the others available. You need to buy an extra batch jar or two, because you will eat far more of this yogurt than you ever thought. I've had several of my jars for decades, as well as some less than a year old. I find them to be sturdy and very easy to clean. They go into the dishwasher and come out like new! I've never had one break or crack and the old ones look as good as the new ones! I have 6 of these. Amazon's price is suddenly higher. I wonder why? I paid between $10-$15 for all of mine.

Customer Review: Extra jar a good idea
Summary: 5 Stars

I wasn't sure if I *really* needed the extra jar but IT'S NEEDED! It's identical to the one that comes with the Yogourmet and (like the original) it's dishwasher safe. Basically I start the 2nd batch of yogurt when I've only got a couple of days left on the 1st batch. It turns out if I transfer the yogurt to a canning jar for a friend or something it's fine but trying to move an entire 2 liters of yogurt out of the batch jar to make another is just silly so I'm glad I got the 2nd one :D NOTE: The lid is tempting to pick the jar up by but those aren't handles! I haven't dropped it yet but it could happen if I grab by the protruding edges!

Customer Review: extra batch jar
Summary: 5 Stars

We have owned a Yogurmet for many years (over 30) and the insert was made of glass and had a fracture in the side. We searched to find a replacement of the insert and found the yogurt maker that appeared identical to the old one we own. We were not sure the insert would fit the old machine so we purchased a new Yogurget and an extra insert because we didn't know that the insert was not glass. We were delighted to find that the insert is a heavy plastic and it also fit the old machine. Now we can make two batches at the same time if we desire. We highly recommend this durably made item.

Customer Review: LOVE the jars
Summary: 4 Stars

I have been making my yogurt in the oven because my jars broke. It is so much easier with jars!! There is only one thing that I don't like about the jars and my warning is: DON'T put them in the dishwasher. It says that they can be put on the top rack, but even there they tend to crack faster than if you don't. At my house there are people who don't understand top rack only, and if you make this mistake the jars are toast almost immediately!! I buy them three at a time so I have one for the fridge, one busy in the yogourmet, and one to wash for the next batch. :-)
