Customer Reviews of Yogourmet Multi Electric Yogurt Maker with CBA StarterCustomer Review: home made yogurt with Yogourmet Multi Electric Yogurt Maker with CBA Starter Summary: 4 Stars
I followed the directions exactly and made a 2 quart batch. The first time it came out a bit loose. It needs 9.5-10 hours to make the 2 quarts and 4.5 hours for the 1 quart. It is convenient once you get the milk heated and cooled to the correct temperatures as in directions. The thermomenter is included as well as the cultures for ten one quart batches. The directions are well written and easy to follow. The suggestions concerning adding the unflavored gelatin or dry milk are in an easy to read table and work as described. I have recommended this product to a few friends who eat yogurt. It saves about 40% cost considering the price of store bought yogurt and is fresher..no artificial sweetners or sugar and you can add your own fruit without the extra sugar. If you want to have natural yogurt that is easy to make then this is the right choice maker.
Customer Review: Good yogurt maker - but has a fatal flaw Summary: 2 Stars
I loved this yogurt maker when we first got it. The water bath maintained an even temperature, and the container that came with it sealed well for storage (almost too well, as it was a little hard to get off till you learned the right tweak needed to get the lid off). I was very happy with it, as it was saving the large number of yogurt containers that otherwise were building up in our house! But after about a year, the inner plastic cylinder split down a the bottom edge, causing the water to leak out onto the counter and into the electrical parts of the unit. I tried patching it (duct tape actually worked for a couple uses) but the type of plastic does not seem to bond with the sealants I was trying to use. Too bad, because like I said, it worked very well otherwise.
Customer Review: A little pricey Summary: 3 Stars
I like this machine and it makes better yogurt more consistently than I was able to do without it, but the price does seem crazy to me. I think I paid 73 dollars with tax for what amounts to a small low temperature crockpot.
Also, I ordered the kit with the starter, etc., and I didn't see all those extra ingredients at first (because they are inside the yogurt container itself) which caused some confusion with amazon.com. Also, the thermometer arrived with a dead battery.
So if you are looking for all the extra stuff hopefully this will help, and I'm thinking such a simple device should probably be available cheaper somewhere else.
Customer Review: Great Product, but Summary: 4 Stars
Long ago we had a thermos-like yogurt maker named Deva Bridge but then got out of the habit. Now that we want to make homemade yogurt again, I bought this electric yogurt maker and it works just fine. However, one day I made one big batch, putting part of the mix in each of the yogurt makers--old and new. The ONLY difference in the results between the two batches was that the thermos-like Deva Bridge took one-half hour longer to set! It doesn't hold as much as the Yogourmet, but it doesn't use any electricity either. I'm sure that I could probably make good yogurt in the Yogourmet without electricity too with a little bit of added insulation, especially in the summer.
Customer Review: Yogourmet Multi Electric Yogurt Maker Summary: 5 Stars
I was a little apprehensive about buying another yogurt maker. I had purchased one a while ago (~10 years ago) and had very little success producing yogurt...generally it came out as soupy milk.
To date I have produced 4 batches of yogurt with the Yogourmet Multi Electric Yogurt Maker and they have ALL come out great! It takes about 30 minutes from start to finish to get the milk heated and prepped for the Yogourmet. After it has cured in the Yogourmet and firmed up in the refrigerator I then have 2 quarts of freshly made yogurt to enjoy over the next 1 to 2 weeks. So far I am very pleased with this purchase. Thanks
