Customer Review: Not particularly worth the asking price

I was really excited to try this product out. The asking price was a bit much, but I was pretty desperate to try something that might help me be more relaxed. I'd seen a lot of good reviews so I took the plunge.
This item does help you relax more, and the more you use it the easier it is to relax without it. By relax I mean such things as being less tense, a little less reactive, more calm, etc. But the whole heart-mind thing that the makers of emWave keep publishing?...pfft. You can get the 'in-sync'-ness without doing what they suggest. All it seems to do is help you slow your breathing down, and maybe help you learn what it's like to be focused on something. It doesn't matter where your mind is attended to, as long as it's not jumping around all over the place.
It's a decent product if you're wanting to use mediation techniques without spending a large amount of time trying to learn how to get to a more meditative state. It's also a decent product if you want to use self-hypnosis techniques but without having to go through the typical drawn out induction scripts (there are lots of better ways than scripts).
At about half the asking price, I'd have given this item 4 stars instead of three. At about 3/4 of the asking price, I'd have given it 5 because it really is helpful to have the nearly immediate feedback...even if the feedback can be about 1-10 seconds off.
But, because of the often delay that occurs between when you change something and when it notices the change isn't as immediate...thus making it a little less useful for certain things, as well as all the hype from the makers not being nearly what they claim, and the very high price you're paying for the hype and non-immediate-'biofeedback'I only give it 3 stars.
If you lack the patience for even the 8-Minute Mediation (book), and/or are a really tense person, and don't mind the price, try this out, it'll likely help you. But be warned, once you are a calmer more patient person, using this thing just might remove whatever's helping you FEEL motivated to make real changes. Tension has it's purposes, and is part of what creates internal motivation to make changes in our lives.
