In a swarm of fruit flies, I think it zapped one, and the rest were pushed out of the way. The zapper did give a powerful, scary zap to the one fruit fly it electrocuted. Not worth the money.Customer Review: Pretty cool

I bought this as a gag gift and it turns out to be very effective. I was very pleased at this inexpensive, effective tool for slaughtering as many bugs as you can shake a stick at. I'm going to purchase a few more to use

These little deals really work, and well at that! Really large bugs like say a Palmetto bug-(aka Giant-Roaches;) you may have to hold them down with the zapper for a moment to make sure their good and fried ;-)
But small-average size bugs ie: flies,spiders,mosquitoes etc.. are pretty much toast on contact:)
