This item is not for a small kitchen; it needs to be in a space where you are not! It is very sensitive and when you are not expecting, the lids pops open. It's gimmicky but can be annoying. If you don't like touching the filthy trash can lid, then this is for you. For the reviewer who said it's hard to get it to open? Not true, I have mine near my desk and it was opening TOO easily so I moved it.
Make sure you remember to buy 4 D batteries.
